The Marcus P. Beebe Memorial Library invites local readers to be a part of our 2018 Adult Summer Reading challenge.

Their 2018 title is “What is the What” by Dave Eggers, an autobiography of the life of Valentino Achak Deng. Valentino and thousands of other children were forced to leave their villages in Sudan to find freedom. They crossed the desert through three countries pursued by militants, government bombers and wild animals. When Valentino finally gets resettled in the United States, he finds a life full of promise, but also heartache and a myriad of new challenges.

This Summer Reading Challenge is sponsored in part by the South Dakota Humanities Council and the Marcus P. Beebe Memorial Library. Pick up your copy at the library in Ipswich and join them on Saturday, Sept. 15th at 10 a.m. at the library to discuss the book with guest speaker Kiera Ball.
