Dance students present recital in Ipswich

August 15, 2018

The summer dance students of Ashley Geist-Cusick will present a free recital for the public on Saturday, August 25, at 7:30 pm in the Ipswich High School Theater.

The recital will feature students from Ipswich, Roscoe, Hosmer, Bowdle, Eureka, and Selby, ranging in age from three to 16 years old.

This year’s show marks the program’s tenth anniversary. Most dancers featured on stage only receive instruction during the summer season. Both new and returning students are excited to perform what they’ve been working on in their classes this summer. Classes begin in early June and finish with an end of summer recital in late August.  While a few students take dance classes during the school year, for most, this is a once a year opportunity.

“The annual summer recital is a highlight for students, families, and community members alike,” said Geist-Cusick.  “The students are very enthusiastic in classes, and are looking forward to sharing their dances on stage at the theater in Ipswich. It’s always exciting for the students to share their skills, in addition, I’m personally very excited that the program has continued successfully for ten years,” she said.

The public is invited to attend this performance on August 25. Admission is free and doors open to the public at 7 p.m.  A free-will offering will be taken to defray costs related to the summer dance program.
