Donald "Don" Meyer, 90, of Mina passed away Monday, August 6, 2018, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen.

Mass of Christian burial was at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 10, 2018, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Aberdeen, with Father Patrick Grode as celebrant.

Don's wishes were to be cremated. Burial, with military rites, took place at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Donald "Don" Meyer, was born in Booker, Tex. on Sept. 8, 1927, to Andy and Fannie (Hynek) Meyer. He grew up on a farm outside of Booker and graduated from high school in 1944.

In 1945, Don enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed at Ft. Belvoir, Va., where he met the love of his life, Dot Morgen. They married in Pomona, Calif. in 1948. After moving to South Dakota in 1949, they began their farming career and moved to their current farm in 1952, where Don resided until his death. Along with his love of farming and the land, he was able to continue his passion of woodworking throughout his life.

Blessed to have shared Don's life is his spouse of 70 years, Dot Meyer of Mina; 10 children, Mike (Holly) Meyer of Georgetown, Tex., Tom Meyer of Frederick, Chris Whites of Rochester, N.Y., Kathy (Byron) Baule of Brownsville, Ore., Jeff (JoAnn) Meyer of O'Fallon, Ill., Pat (Earl) Weisenburger of Aberdeen, Bob Meyer of Modesto, Calif., Barb (Dave) Perrion of Sioux Falls, Dan (Susie) Meyer of Brandon, and Lyn (Steve) Whitney of Los Angeles, Calif .; 25 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 11 siblings; and one daughter-in-law.
