Fiddlin' Around

September 5, 2018

Thanks to our entire South Dakota Congressional delegation Senators Mike Rounds and John Thune and our lone House of Representatives delegate Kristi Noem and also the help of the National Newspaper Association, the tariff on newsprint has apparently been lifted. And that was certainly good news to newspapers, the ones that were able to sustain themselves through the crisis.

It was especially significant that the news broke just before the Labor Day holiday weekend, so newspaper staffs definitely had an extra reason to celebrate the holiday. And all weeklies (including us) that publish with a deadline and don't take some of the ordinary Monday holidays for that very reason definitely relaxed on Labor Day Monday.

Of course it doesn't hurt to have a computer or two and the internet at home just in case! And those Monday holidays like Labor Day that we do celebrate will certainly help make the next weekend roll around a little faster!
