Fiddlin' Around

September 12, 2018

Yesterday was Patriot Day, as you are beginning to see in print on a lot of September calendars. And no it's not homecoming for Hitchcock-Tulare or Eureka/Bowdle. That's because Patriot Day has become the name for the 9-ll attacks on American soil and the Governor had asked South Dakotans to fly their flag at half mast in memory of the casualties.

Patriot Day does seem to be evolving into a true holiday observance, similar to Veterans Day and Memorial Day and probably should.

That's because the aftermath of the 9/11 attack has become an on-going situation. Indeed several of the survivors and responders in the area after the attack are still battling serious health issues from their exposure at Ground Zero. So we should truly be aware of the sacrifices that the latter are still making to this day and also think of the families of the victims from the tragedy.
