Fiddlin' Around

October 24, 2018

Congratulations to the Ipswich girls' cross country team for their second-place finish at the State B in Sioux Falls last Saturday. They were led by senior Aleah Steger and junior Tessa Kilber, both individual Top 25 medalist. Maxwell Geditz also attained that Top 25 status as the lone IHS boy in the state event. (Senior Ben Kulesa was unable to compete due to an ankle injury.)

Meanwhile the Tigers football team lost their play-off bid to Canistota-Freeman last Thursday in Freeman. But it was good experience, because even though they graduate 10 seniors they should have a strong nucleus of experienced juniors and seniors next season, if everything goes well.

And now at this writing the state SDHSAA is still trying to sort out the final Region 2B volleyball tournaments, slated to begin with play-in games on Monday. Ipswich and Edmunds Central are both seeded into Tuesday semi-finals so will not be playing on Monday. Ipswich will be hosting someone at 7 p.m. and EC will be on the road that evening to a high seed.

Good luck to both Ipswich and EC netters who have compiled above .500 regular-season records.
