4-Hers at Western Junior Livestock Show

Winning honors at the Western Junior Livestock Show were, left to right, Jacob Jung, Brady Beitelspacher, Emily Johnson, and Bryce Beitelspacher.

Three Edmunds County 4-H members attended Western Junior Livestock Show in Rapid City October 9-13, 2018.

Jacob Jung of Mina and Bryce and Brady Beitelspacher of Bowdle showed cattle at the event; while Jung also judged.

Their Pen of Three earned Reserve Champion status with the help of Emily Johnson of Hamlin County. Jacob was the third place beginner livestock judge.

Jung also took home hardware for Grand Champion Red Angus Breeding Heifer, Grand Champion Commercial Feeder Steer and Champion Simmental Feeder Heifer.

In Showmanship, Brady placed fourth over-all of 49 junior showmen. Jacob was in the top 15 of 52 beginner showmen.

Bryce Beitelspacher had the Reserve Champion Feeder Steer.

Other results included:

Jacob Jung - first in class, purple Char Composite.

Brady Beitelspacher - Fat steer - first in class, purple; Angus Feeder steer, second in class, purple.


Bryce Beitelspacher - Fat Steer - purple second in class to Grand Champion; Futurity Heifer - blue; third over-all Simmental bulls, purple; Grand Champion Simmental Feeder Steer / Over-all Reserve Champion.
