Fiddlin' Around

October 31, 2018

Vote your conscience on November 6, no matter the particular race or ballot issue and that's the best way you can live with the outcomes however they turn out! Sometimes you might be wondering if your vote even matters and in a particularly close race it most certainly would. But it's always important to vote, especially during a presidential off-year.

Meanwhile, the Lake Region Conference football teams still alive in the nine-man playoffs are down to one -- Faulkton. And there is also one Yellowstone Trail Conference team still practicing for the November 2 Class 9B state semifinals and that would be Sully Buttes. And what a coincidence, they will be playing each other at Onida on Friday! One of the LRC teams, Warner lost a second-round 8-7 heartbreaker to Howard, which will now face the 9A defending champions Britton-Hecla for a trip to the Dome. (That shows how important a two-point conversion can be!)

And as for Ipswich/EC's 9A opponent in the playoffs--Canistota/Freeman, they are a win away from the Dome and will be traveling to Timber Lake on Friday. And though not in the LRC or YTC, a regular-season opponent for Ipswich/Edmunds Central, Kimball/White Lake is still in the 9AA running.

But the LRC could do somewhat better in post-season volleyball outcomes, thanks to the new Round of 16 statewide semifinals that was begun last season in girls volleyball, as well as in girls and boys basketball.
