4-Hers, leaders recognized

The Edmunds County 4-H Recognition Event was held Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018 at the 4-H Building in Ipswich.

The evening started with a potluck supper followed by the awards ceremony. The 4-H members, leaders, and friends of 4-H were honored for their accomplishments and contributions. Bonnie Nehlich, 4-H Youth Program Advisor, welcomed all to the event. The Junior Leaders hosted the event by setting up, decorating, and leading the flag pledges.

4-H graduation awards were presented to Payton Eisenbeisz and Josie Sylte.

The Meritorious Award was presented to Deanne Hoyle for her donation of time and talent to the Achievement Days Concession Stand. The Alumni Award was presented to Hannah Toennies for helping with the Dog Program and stepping up during Achievement Days and filling in where needed.

Leaders receiving special recognition for years of service as club leaders and a member of the Leaders Association were Janet Fuhrmann-10 years and Mark Beitelspacher-five years. They each received a certificate and a clover pin.

Other leaders recognized for their years of service were Jean Hutson four years, Clay Olivier three years, Jess Olivier 11 years, Teri Geditz four years, Missy Kleffman four years, Lisa Rye four years, Dionne Olson two years, Holly Johnson six years, Bryan and Jessica Scherr two years, Carole Curtis 16 years, Emily Kadlec 16 years, Heidi Sylte 11 years, Becky Nierman 11 years, Scott Kilber nine years, Angie Kulesa seven years, Jim Kanable four years, Courtney Davis two years, Tara Beitelspacher six years, Barb Kaiser three years, Amber Beyers four years, Amanda Rawden four years, and John and Steph Jung nine years.

The Overall Horse Award went to Quincy Olivier and the Overall Dog Showman was Katie Preszler. The first year dog award winner was Kearstin Pietz. The dog awards are donated by Joan Goppolt.

Club honors for the Ken’s Food Fair Citizenship Awards went to Wily Wizards first place and second place to Lucky Charms.

The Visual Arts Dabbler Awards went to Beginner Jillian Fischer and Senior Bridget Fuhrmann. These awards are sponsored by the Esther Sweeter Family.

The Child Development Award went to Bryce Beitelspacher. This award is sponsored in memory of Denise Jung.

Best of Show Awards were given to Bentley Geditz-Cloverbud, Brady Beitelspacher-Junior Child Development, Wood Science; Bryce Beitelspacher-Senior Clothing, Foods & Nutrition; Lincoln Beyers-Beginner Child Development; Ava Davis-Beginner Horticulture; Bridget Fuhrmann-Senior Visual Arts; Karlie Gohl-Junior Clothing; Haleigh Holt-Beginner Clothing; Maggie Holt-Beginner Clothing; Mackenzie Kaiser-Junior Home Environment; Photography; Adam Kanable-Beginner Foods & Nutrition; Baylee Kulesa-Junior Visual Arts, Max Kulesa-Beginner Home Environment, Visual Arts, Wood Science; Chesney Olivier-Senior Photography, Posters & Displays; Quincy Olivier-Junior Photography, Posters & Displays; Katie Preszler-Senior Horticulture; Nathan Preszler-Senior Wood Science; Josie Sylte-Senior Home Environment; Karlie Weisser- Beginner Photography.

Carter Heinz was recognized for qualifying for the State Finals Rodeo in Senior Bull Riding.

High Point Judging Plaques were presented to the following individuals for their judging on both the county and state level: Consumer Decision Making: Beginner Lincoln Beyers Junior Hannah Beyers, and Senior Bridget Fuhrmann; Horticulture: Senior Myra Toennies.

Top Ten Judging Awards were given to Senior Myra Toennies for 3rd place in the state in the Horticulture Skill-a-Thon and Junior Hannah Beyers for 6th place in the Consumer Decision Making Contest.

Awards for the best 4-H Record Books went to Beginner-first Clark Beyers, second Gage Kaiser, Junior-first Brady Beitelspacher, second Mackenzie Kaiser, and Senior-first Elliot Beyers, second Tessa Kilber. Record Book Trophies are sponsored by the Alvina Pettigrew Family.

The many supporters of the 4-H program were recognized with a Friend of 4-H Certificate.
