Ipswich graduate named to Hall of Fame

The South Dakota Cross Country and Track and Field Coaches Association (SDCCTFCA) Hall of Fame 2019 Class were inducted during a ceremony Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019 at the South Dakota National Guard Armory in Sioux Falls.

Inductees included 1961 Ipswich graduate Buzz Stevenson. Stevenson's coaching reached the high school and collegiate level in South Dakota. He coached at Huron, Yankton and finished his career as a long-time head coach at Dakota State.

He was also inducted to Dakota State University, Yankton College, and Huron High School Halls of Fame.

Ipswich coach Todd Thorson said, "He still follows the Ipswich teams closely and is a valued member of the track and field and cross country community."

Other inductees were: Gene Danielsen, McCook Central; Laverne Diede, Freeman; Lowell Gilbertson, Arlington; Don Lhotak, Bonesteel-Fairfax; Tom Main, Chester; and Terry Ulmer, Hecla.
