Trailing 58-37 late in the third quarter against White River on Friday afternoon in the consolation bracketing of the State B girls' high school basketball tourney in Huron, the Ipswich Lady Tigers got a third-quarter buzzer-beating steal basket from Halle Heinz. But it still left the White River Lady Tigers up 58-39 with a quarter to play.

And Ipswich would then also double its Lady Tiger counterparts from White River 22-11 down the stretch to eventually lose a 69-61 verdict. The game clock still proved to be White River's best ally. But the IHS Lady Tigers' offensive attack certainly caught fire and that momentum seemed to carry over into Saturday's seventh-place win over Waverly-South Shore.

Meanwhile, White River had led 18-16 after a quarter and upped that advantage to 37-30 at intermission. The White River Lady Tigers would also outscore Ipswich 21-9 during the third quarter, despite that late Halle Heinz steal conversion. And White River opened the final quarter with its own response for a brief 60-39 lead.

Ipswich finished with 23 points from Kamryn Heinz, who included two treys and Halle Heinz was next with 20 points, including a trio of treys. Abby Grabowska also landed in double-figure scoring territory with 12 points. Steger, Kilber and Chesney Olivier added two points apiece.

The game's leading scorer proved to be Caelyn Valandra-Prue of White River with 33 points, followed by Kaylee Wells with 18 counters. Four more WR players scored.

The White River Lady Tigers shot 29-54 from the floor and they included only two treys. They were 9-11 in free throw tries. Ipswich finished 22-50 from the floor and included those five treys. The IHS Lady Tigers were 12-23 at the line.

Ipswich utilized 18 rebounds in a balanced effort, led by Kamryn Heinz with 16 retrieves and Halle Heinz with five. White River collected 45. Ipswich played a nearly flawless floor game with only eight turnovers. White River sustained 16 miscues, including 10 from IHS steals in another balanced effort.
