Gilbert top golfer at home meet

Ipswich hosted a high school golf invite last Thursday at Split Rock golf course, where no team points were kept.

Hometown golfer Ethan Gilbert posted the top varsity boys' score of the afternoon with an 82 among 29 total entrants.

Grant Luikens of Potter County finished second with his 85.

Ipswich's Luke Peterson placed fourth at 86, followed by Matt Jaenisch 15th with a 99 and Chet Peterson 16th at 100. Kaden Boettcher was 23rd at 119.

Ipswich entered a lone girl, Halie Feldman, into the varsity division that day. She was seventh among 15 contestants with her 121. Miranda Zabel of Selby Area was first at 99 and her teammate Jayda Sawinsky second at 102.

Ipswich also entered several golfers into its respective JV divisions led by Rylee Kleffman's fifth-place finish in the girls' event and Jacob Bakken third among the JV boys.

There will be a Thursday, May 2 LRC golf meet in Aberdeen and another golf invite on Saturday in Eureka.
