Special Olympians compete

 

Local athletes competed in the Special Olympics Area Track Meet held in Watertown on Friday, May 3.

It was a successful day for Tucker Green, Johnathan Kamps, Isaiah Goetz, Teagan Cody, Royce Iverson, Casey Gilborne, Cash Henderson and Coy Stager.

The athletes had a great day and worked very hard in their events. Each athlete is in a division with kids of their age and ability as there were over 200 athletes competing this year from this part of the state.

Results were:

Standing long jump: Cash: 3rd; Coy: 1st; Royce: 2nd; Isaiah: 2nd; Teagan: 1st; Johnathan: 2nd; Tucker: 1st

Running long jump: Casey: 2nd

Softball throw: Cash: 1st; Coy: 2nd; Casey: 1st; Royce: 1st; Isaiah: 1st; Teagan 2nd; Johnathan: 1st; Tucker 3rd

50 m walk: Cash: 2nd; Royce: 1st; Teagan: 1st

50 m dash: Coy: 2nd; Isaiah: 1st; Johnathan: 2nd

200m dash: Casey 1st

100m dash: Tucker 3rd

"Thanks again to the Knights of Columbus who generously donate," said coach/instructor Dawn Graham. "The athletes really love their new shirts for each event and wear them with pride all year long," she said.
