Pasture tour scheduled north of Beebe Corner

The Edmunds County Conservation District, Ducks Unlimited and USDA-NRCS invite you to a Pasture Tour Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Jonathan and Sheena Rohrbach’s.

Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. The tour starts at 9 a.m. and concludes at 12 p.m. Morning refreshments and a light lunch will be provided.

Attendees can find the tour one of two ways from Roscoe: five miles north and 5.5 miles east or from Beebe Corner: five miles north and 1.5 miles west.

Once there, Jonathan will discuss the history of the operation, his experiences, and the benefits he has seen through rotational grazing. SDSU Range Specialist, Pete Bauman, and NRCS Grazing Specialist, Jenita Qualm, will discuss the benefits of rotational grazing, including plant diversity, fly control, simplistic fencing strategies, and livestock integration on cropland. A grazing stick demonstration will also be conducted to help livestock managers conduct production estimates on their own operations. Lastly, Kent Vlieger, NRCS Soil Health Specialist will demonstrate the Rainfall Simulator.
