Northeastern Literacy Association (NELA) selected the Ipswich Tiger Post as the recipient of their annual donation of literacy materials to benefit young readers, writers, artists and poets. All materials and books were purchased and donated by teacher members.

NELA schools include Ipswich, Leola, Frederick, Aberdeen May Overby, Highmore-Harrold, Sunshine Bible, Warner and Webster.

NELA is an affiliate of the South Dakota Literacy Association as well as the International Literacy Association.

Their mission is to promote literacy at all levels, motivating children and adults. They offer contests for students, families, and adults in the education field.

"We will be celebrating our 60th year as literacy leaders in northeastern South Dakota at a huge celebration honoring our local and state contest winners and their families at the Leola School in April of 2020," said Sharon Osborne, South Dakota Literacy Association Board of Directors member.
