After today, Wednesday, Nov. 20, the rest of the work week and even into the weekend, our area weather is forecast to be quite decent for this time of the year. And that is especially timely for the Ipswich Commercial Club's Turkey Days drawings at each of the participating business establishments, beginning as early as Wednesday at some of the area businesses.

Yes, the sign-up hours and specific days do vary from location to location, but the participating businesses are also sponsoring ads in this edition, so be sure to check it out. If I'm not mistaken, our Ipswich Tribune Turkey Drawing days will be this Thursday and Friday, Nov. 21-22.

There is a possible meteor shower forecast for Thursday night, so clear weather would be ideal for possibly viewing this event for people that are in the right locations in our country. But I understand that the shower won't last very long at all, forecast to start at around 11 p.m. EST and then reach its peak at around midnight Eastern time.

Obviously that beats staying up all night, especially if we aren't even in the right area of the country.

Two meteor scientists say there is a “good chance” this will be the first alpha Monocerotids meteor storm in 1995, when it produced rates of around 400 meteors per hour. That is according to an internet press release we received recently.

Enjoy your turkey if you are one of the lucky winners and if you don't win one this year, the Ipswich UCC will be hosting their Community Friendly Feast turkey and all the trimmings dinner on Sunday beginning at 11 a.m.

Local singers were in the SDHSAA All-State Chorus and Orchestra Concert in October in Sioux Falls. If you missed it you may watch it on the SDPB Music Facebook page. SDPB-TV will be rebroadcasting the concert on Thanksgiving at 1 p.m., followed by the Elementary Honors Choir Concert. There were a few Ipswich singers in that concert also.
