Ipswich native Dr. Jim Engler has served the area as a dentist since July, 1978.

A few years later he added time in an Aberdeen office also. In July 2019 the Ipswich Dental office closed. Dr. Engler continued to practice in Aberdeen.

Dr. Engler will retire as a dentist on Dec. 20, 2019.

Aberdeen Dental will host a retirement open house on Wednesday, Dec. 18 in their office in Aberdeen from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The office is north of Menards.

Engler and his wife Sharon have three daughters. The first, Andrea, was born the day after Dr. Engler took his State Boards before setting up his Ipswich office. Then came Amanda and Ashlee.

Now the Englers have eight grandchildren. Sharon said they will stay busy following the grandchildren in their activities in Brookings, Milbank and Fargo, N.D.

Dr. Engler's father and grandfather had a business a few doors south of the Ipswich Dental office (now the Red Bobbin Sewing Salon). They were the owners of the Engler Hardware.
