Alice Schumacher

 

The funeral service for Alice L. Schumacher, 87, of Aberdeen, and formerly of Hosmer, is 11 a.m., Thursday, March 5, 2020 at St. John's Lutheran, Hosmer, with Pastor Tim Sersen officiating. Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 4, from 5-7 p.m., followed by a prayer service at Gramm Funeral Home, Ipswich.

Alice was born April 15, 1932 to Christ and Lydia (Kranzler) Dabbert in Roscoe. This is the area she grew up and attended school. On June 8, 1952 she was united in marriage to Herbert Schumacher at St. Paul's Lutheran in Roscoe. The couple relocated to Hosmer in 1956 where they owned and operated a farm. Alice was also employed at the Hosmer Senior Citizens Home for several years. They were blessed with four children.

Alice was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Women of the ELCA, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Alice and Herbert enjoyed dancing and doing puzzles together. She enjoyed gardening, baking, embroidery, and quilting. She was an active member of Hosmer Ladies' Book Club. She was very hard working, and was dedicated to her faith and family.


Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Keith (Marie) Schumacher of Aberdeen, Twila Thorstenson of Ipswich, Shirley (Ed) Farris of Mankato, Minn., and Stan Schumacher (Sharon Schwarzbauer) of Aberdeen; grandchildren, Leanne (Joe) Gehlen of Minnetonka, Minn., Denae (Mike) Brennan of Victoria, Minn., Bryan Schumacher of Overland Park, Kan., Melissa (Calvin) Kleffman of Ipswich, Devin Pfaff of Rapid City, Eddy Lee Farris and Christopher Farris both of Mankato, Minn., and Dan (Sarah) Farris of Janesville, Minn.; 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Christ and Lydia Dabbert; husband, Herbert on May 26, 2013: daughter-in-law, Roxie Schumacher; three brothers-in-law and two sisters-in law, and two great-grandsons, Willem and Thomas Gehlen.

Alice died Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Bethesda Home, Aberdeen.
