Geraldine "Gerry" Rose Gabriel was born April 17, 1929 to Frank and Regina (Sahli) Gabriel in Trail City. This is the area where she was raised and attended grade school. In 1946, Gerry and her family moved to Roscoe. Following graduation from Roscoe High School, Gerry moved to Aberdeen, where she worked as clerk and bookkeeper at the women's clothing store named The Jarold Shop.

Gerry married in 1949 and to that union three children were born: Douglas, Peggy and Rodney. Gerry was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Rott in Ipswich on January 17, 1961. They had one son, Robert Rott, Jr. The family made Aberdeen their home where Gerry worked part-time at the family business, Helen's California Kitchen, and also part-time at the Elks Club. Gerry and Bob both retired in 1990. When he passed away in 2005, Gerry sold the family home and moved into an apartment where she continued to live until May of 2019, when she became a resident at Aberdeen Health and Rehab.

Gerry enjoyed spending time with her family. She also loved to read and do crossword puzzles until her vision grew worse, and then she enjoyed watching old Westerns on television.

Survivors include her children: Douglas (Brenda) Sanders of Tea, Peggy (Joey) Kusser of Highmore, and Rodney (Kim) Sanders and Robert Rott, Jr., both of Aberdeen; grandchildren, Doug, Chris, Matt, Mandy, Melissa, Shaun, Leslie, Jaimie, Chris, Tina, Jessica and Jamie; 24 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jim (Helen) Gabriel; two sisters-in-law, Corrine Norlding and Janice Rott; and several nieces and nephews.
