Sharon (Thares) Thomas

 

A private Mass of Christian Burial for Sharon K. (Thares) Thomas, 57, of Brookings and formerly of Aberdeen was held on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Fr. Timothy Smith serving as Celebrant of the Mass. Burial followed at Holy Cross Cemetery in Ipswich.

Sharon was born November 29, 1962 to Andrew and Loretta (Wegner) Thares at Aberdeen. She was raised in Ipswich where she attended Holy Cross Catholic School and graduated from Ipswich High School. She continued her education at Northern State University where she attained a Masters Degree.

She worked her entire career in the mental health care field.

Sharon loved her son, family and attending family gatherings. She enjoyed watching movies, reading books, playing games, taking walks and shopping for the "perfect" gift for someone.

Her cooking skills will be remembered by her son who enjoyed her homemade spaghetti.

Sharon always made conversations lively, adding to them her cute smile that she was well known for. She had such a kind heart, a compassion for people in need and always wanted to do her best to help others.

Thankful for having shared in her life are her son, Andrew Thomas of Aberdeen; her parents, Andrew and Loretta Thares of Ipswich; her brother, David (Lynn) Thares of Ipswich; sisters, Carol (Scott) Magnuson and Kristi (Earl) Jarolimek, both of Fargo, N.D .; as well as her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her aunt, Alice Wegner, with whom she shared a deep bond with.
