IHS spring sports could have been...

Due to the coronavirus we can only speculate what might have happened in the high school spring sports seasons that were cancelled. But there would have been a solid nucleus of 40-plus returners on both the grades 7-12 IHS girls and boys track and field rosters. And they would have been attempting to defend their 2019 State B Combined Championship title.

"Yes, it would have been a good year," says their coach Todd Thorson. "Both teams would have been in the hunt to win a state title. More importantly we had a great group of seniors that would have made this year so much fun to go to practice every day and be a part of something greater than ourselves." There were Mckenzie Bowers, Lily Gaston, Tessa Kilber, Kelsey Olson, Kendra Osborne and Avery Sylte, alphabetically among the girls' seniors. And the senior boy thinclads would have included Maxwell Geditz, Carter Heinz, William Kadlec and Jordan Richardt.

And in golf, coached by Matt Pollock, the Tiger boys placed eighth in last year's State B team results. And they would have all returned, led by this year's senior Ethan Gilbert. (April Feldman also represented Ipswich in last year's State B girls' golf event.)
