Annual Independence Day festivities at Mina Lake

The Aqua Addicts will perform at Wylie Lake on July 4, 2020.

Local residents will celebrate Independence Day this weekend.

Many offices and businesses may be closed on Friday, July 3 in anticipation of the 4th on Saturday.

You could get your fireworks at a local stand to celebrate at home. Of course be careful and keep safe.

If you want a bigger show there are choices, depending how far you want to drive.

Mina Lake is again planning their Freedom Festival. There will be activities for kids on Friday afternoon at the Wakeside.

Friday evening festivities begin at 6:15 p.m. with a helicopter flyover and displays at the Wakeside bridge. They will have their first ever Patriotic Spectacular beginning at 7:45 p.m. The program includes P-51 Mustang "Boomer" flyovers and sky divers.

The annual fireworks show begins at 10 p.m.

Saturday, July 4 there will be a 5K Run/Walk, 2-mile walk and kids' run. Registration is at 8 a.m. at the M Station parking lot.

On Independence Day, July 4, Faulkton is planning festivities for their annual Wild West Days. While there will not be a rodeo or parade this year, there will be a car show in the ball complex Saturday afternoon, 1-4 p.m. At 8 p.m. there will be a old-timers baseball team in the Garry Cunningham Sports Complex.

The fireworks show begins at dusk on July 4.

In Aberdeen you can also celebrate on July 4. Activities are planned at Wylie Park during the day and the Aqua Addicts will be putting on a waterski show for the whole family to enjoy at 7 p.m. To end the evening they'll have a fireworks display at dusk.

Perhaps you can find another local town to celebrate Independence Day in also. Enjoy the holiday weekend and keep yourself and family safe and healthy.
