Fiddlin' Around

September 23, 2020

Yesterday, Tuesday was officially the first day of autumn, but lately it's been feeling more like summer. However, it is already very hard not to notice that the hours of daylight are gradually being shortened with later sunrises and earlier sunsets both becoming very noticeable.

I didn't try to stand a fresh egg upright during an equinox day as you are supposed to be able to do. I think I would have gotten too hungry, just looking at that egg. But no big deal if it falls into pieces with a big cracking noise if your experiment does in fact not quite work. Maybe it's a mere urban myth about a fresh egg on an equinox day. Or in this part of the country, that maybe should be called a rural myth.

Another thing I have noticed about this time of the year is that the sun is more directly in your eyes if you happen to travel straight east in the mornings or towards the west in the evening. And it's huge and reddish. And that redness of the sun is especially more noticeable this particular year because of all those fires in the western part of the country.
