Fiddlin' Around

November 25, 2020

Thanksgiving will be on Thursday, but we already had our turkey dinner with all the trimmings served up by the Ipswich UCC church on Sunday. They did a drive-thru delivery so you didn't even have to leave your vehicle. But we won a turkey from one of the Ipswich business places (ISB Agency) so thank you guys (it was a real live turkey—well, not exactly live, but frozen!)

I can also report on the state VB tourney results, if you have been living in a cave and hadn't heard. We'll concentrate on the B's because that's what we are. Jordan Opp's Hitchcock-Tulare contingent salvaged seventh-place with a 3-1 win over Corsica-Stickney on Saturday in Huron. (The Patriots were competitive throughout the event and had matched up particularly well with Warner in their opener that went the distance.) After that our Region 2B area team Faulkton Area placed fifth with its 3-0 victory over Bridgewater-Emery for a consolation-championship title. Third-place honors went to Chester Area 3-2 over Colman-Egan in their battle for third and Northwestern won its expected clash with Warner 3-1 for the 2020 State B championship (the Wildcats' netters’ 12th state title as I understand.)

Sioux Falls Christian won the State A event and Sioux Falls O'Gorman came away the crown-bearers in the AA showdown. Each of the three state champions have solid programs and rebuild quickly from year to year. (And Northwestern might be in for quite a battle with Warner next year, beginning in the LRC.)
