I/B Wrestlers competed at Battler Invitational Tournament

The Ipswich/Bowdle wrestlers competed in the Battler Invitational in Gettysburg on Saturday Jan. 16. 

As a team they tied for sixth out of 12 teams placing all seven wrestlers.  The team was led by Lucas Rowland with a second place finish for 12 team points.  Brady Unser and Kadyn Weisser placed third. 

"I thought the team performance in Gettysburg top to bottom was their best of the year,” said Coach Todd Naasz.  “We showed a lot of technical gains. Our athletes also showed a lot of heart going after big wins and willing to battle until the whistle. We beat opponents that we lost to earlier in the season and almost beat others,” he said. “Lucas showed a  lot of improvements wresting to a second place finish.” 

The I/B results were:

106 — Lane Miller was pinned 1:35, won by pin 2:30, was pinned 1:26, lost by technical fall 19-3 3:45 for sixth place


113 — Brady Unser lost by major decision 11-2, won by pin 0:50, won by pin 1:10, was pinned 1:13 for third place

132 — Tanner Frickson was pinned 3:21, won by pin 4:04, lost 12-10 for fourth place

152 — Adam Kanable was pinned 0:29, was pinned 1:04, was pinned 0:51, was pinned 0:20 for fourth place

170 — Grant Weisser lost 11-7, was pinned 3:39, was pinned 3:12 for fourth place

182 — Kadyn Weisser won by pin 1:59, lost by major decision 15-3, was pinned 0:55 for third place

285 — Lucas Rowland won by pin 0:23, won by pin 1:20, won by pin 0:18, lost 1-0 for second place

Tuesday, Jan. 19 the team was scheduled to travel to Mobridge.  The I/B wrestlers will be in Arlington on Saturday, Jan. 23 for the Kingsbury County Invitational.  Covid restrictions are not known at this time.
