Young wrestlers earn trips to State AAU Tournament

Twenty-five Ipswich area youth wrestlers competed in the AAU District tournament in Aberdeen on March 6.

Results were:

First place — Isaiah Kadlec, Treyton Hutson, Sophia Knittle, Marley Guthmiller

Second place — Asher Miller, Elliot Kallas, Sutton Paplow, Gavin Horst, Clayton Horst, Gunnar Knittle, Serenity Guthmiller

Third place — Jack Wesch, Elliot Unser, Jase Heilman

Fourth place — Jaxson Horst, Ryder Steen, Ben Hoyle, Chance Miller

Fifth place — Oliver Miller

Sixth place — Aaron Wagner, Edison Unser

Eighth place — Steven Geditz, Draycen Easterby

Did not place — Brantley Steen, William Hoyle

The District winners qualified to compete at the Regional tournament in Gettysburg on March 13. The top three winners in the Region qualify to compete in the State AAU Tournament in Rapid City March 26-28.

Ipswich Area wrestlers who qualified for the State meet are:

Tots — Isaiah Kadlec, first; Asher Miller second; Treyton Hutson, second; and Jack Wesch, third

Bantam: Elliot Unser, fourth and Jase Heilman, fourth

Novice: Gavin Horst, third

Schoolboy: Clayton Horst, third and Gunnar Knittle, third

Girls B: Sophia Knittle, second and Serenity Guthmiller, third

Girls C: Marley Guthmiller, second

Ipswich Area wrestlers who placed, but did not qualify for the State are:

Bantam: Jaxson Horst, fifth

Midgets: Chance Miller, fifth

Those who did not place: Elliot Kallas, Ryder Steen, Edison Unser, Ben Hoyle, Draycen Easterby and Oliver Miller
