Ipswich Lions Club plans blood drive on June 28

The Ipswich Lions Club is hosting a blood drive with Vitalant on Monday, June 28 at Father Bormann Hall to help ensure a safe blood supply in the community during the summer when blood donations traditionally drop significantly.

With the hopes of recruiting 63 people to donate blood, Vitalant encourages anyone feeling healthy to make their appointment for the blood drive.

Donors can make a convenient appointment to give blood by calling Jerry Brooks at 605-380-1925, at http://www.bloodhero.com or by calling (877)25-VITAL.

First time donors are always welcome. Face coverings are required and appointments are encouraged to keep donors socially distanced.

Vitalant relies on 250 people to donate blood each day to ensure the needs of the local hospitals are met. There is no substitute for human blood, so volunteer blood donors are vital to ensure a safe blood supply for the community.

The blood donation process takes about an hour from check-in to refreshments. Donors can save about 20 minutes by completing their Fast Track Health History the day they donate on http://www.vitalant.org/health. Postpone your donation if you are feeling unwell or suspect you may have COVID-19.
