Annie Perrion, left, and Huck, her black and white dog, took part in the 2021 Summer Reading Program at the Ipswich Library this summer.

The Ipswich Library 2021 Summer Reading Program "Tails to Tales" was a great success with 90 children participating this summer.

The program opened on July 2 with a Teddy Bear workshop. Each child stuffed their own teddy bear, made a wish on a star, and put that wish in the teddy bear.

Cindy Geditz and Lucy stopped at the library.

During the summer reading program, children made origami, sang Old MacDonald, drew a creature, learned to arrange a tangram, took home coloring pages, and did scavenger hunts. For families who could not make it to the library, Take Home bags were created for each weekly activity so the children could do the activity at home.

On July 7, Annie Perrion and her dog Huck were special guests. Annie, Huck, and volunteers read a book to the group. Annie then explained that Huck was a therapy dog, what he does, and how to take care of him.

The reading program closed on July 28 with more special guests -Cindy Geditz and Lucy. Cindy read a story she wrote and then Lucy sang songs for the children. Cindy taught the children how to be a ventriloquist. She handed out popsicle sticks, taught them how to hold it between their teeth and talk without moving their lips.

Prizes and t-shirts were given out to everyone who participated. The summer reading program was free to all who participated.
