Ipswich High School's homecoming celebration for 2021 is this week. The theme is "Into the Comics: Issue 2021."

You still have time to register your parade entry. Contact Shana Gohl at the school, 426-6571. The parade begins at 1 p.m. on Friday.

The parade route will remain the same as last year. The parade entries will line up on First Avenue by Holy Cross Church. The route will begin at First Avenue and Fifth Street, down Alma Avenue, turning on Main Street heading north, turning again on Fourth Avenue. Elementary students will leave the parade along 4th Avenue. Floats may continue up to Avantara Ipswich. The nursing home asks that parade entries that are able/willing, they would appreciate it if they would come down by the nursing home.

Parade entries will be judged in five divisions: preschool - fifth grade, middle school, high school, business and organizations.


Monday evening, the King and Queen were crowned who will reign during Gala Week. 2020 King Tyler Tran and Queen Halle Heinz were unable to attend. Crowned to reign in 2021 were Queen Kirsten Anderson and King Carson Gohl. Members of the royal court are Holly Anderson, Emily DeRaad, Chloe Jager, Zach Geditz, Ty Kadlec and Luke Peterson.

Coronation was held in the School theatre due to Monday's rainy weather.

Coronation included a performances by the IHS band. High School classes and even some parents had skits.

Competitions throughout the week will earn points for the classes. Culminating with the winning class being treated to a pizza party.

The Ipswich Lady Tigers volleyball team played in Warner on Tuesday. They will host Northwestern on Thursday. The burning of the "I" was postponed to Thursday evening after the volleyball game. It will be held at the football field.

A Gala Day Pep Rally is planned at 8:45 a.m. in the gym on Friday. That will be followed by Boys' Volleyball in the Gym and Girls' Flag Football at the football field (weather permitting).

The Tigers football team will battle the Warner Monarchs at 7 p.m. Friday evening here.

A Busine$$ Buck$ sign up is planned on Thursday and Friday. You can sign up to win one of two $50 Ipswich Bu$ine$$ Buck$ prizes. You do not have to be present to win.
