November 3, 2021

The Ipswich Lions Club will host a Blood Drive on November 8 at Holy Cross Hall from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Contact Jerry Brooks at 605-380-1925 to make an appointment or call Vitalant at 1-877-258-4825.

Common misconceptions of blood donors include:

“Can I donate blood to save lives if...

• I am taking medication or recently got a flu shot or COVID-19 vaccine? Yes - Most medications are acceptable as well as the flu shot and COVID-19. (You must be feeling well and healthy to donate.)

• I am 16 years old: Yes - 16 with signed consent form available at http://www.vitalant .org, 17 year olds do not need a signed form. There is no upper age limit either.

• I have recently had surgery: Yes - If you are completely healed and released from doctor’s care.

• I got a tattoo or pierced? Yes - If obtained in a licensed establishment (MN, ND, SD, IA, and NE are okay.)

• I have diabetes: Yes - If you are regulating it, even if insulin dependent.

• I have had cancer: Yes - Most types are acceptable if it has been one year since last treatment and no known recurrence.

To save time, donors can now fill out their Health History online at http://www.vitalant. org the day of their donation.
