Ipswich hosted a talented boys' high school basketball opponent from Potter County on February 17 in the Tiger Den. And the result was a 69-35 non-conference setback for the host team.

The Tigers would never lead, as the visitors would signal their early intentions with seven unanswered points to start the contest. Ipswich would then get on the scoreboard with a Carter Geditz basket. But the Battlers scored four more unanswered points to help restore order. Taylor Thorson's two free throws and Trevor Heinz's trey then drew Ipswich to within four points, only trailing 11-7. The two teams then traded treys with Ipswich's three-ball courtesy of Ian Beyers, still leaving the Tigers down 14-10 at that juncture of the opening quarter.

And the visitors would end that quarter with a 19-10 lead. Their first double-figure lead would be 21-10 after a Battler trey. They expanded their advantage to 40-20 at halftime despite a buzzer-beating deuce from Heinz. The visitors would then lead 67-25 at the third break, but the host team would salvage a 10-2 scoring advantage during the final quarter.

The Tigers were led by Heinz's 10 points, including a pair of treys. Next would be Trevor Beyers with seven counters, including a trey and Ian Beyers would finish with six points on a pair of treys. Taylor Thorson included a trey among his five points. Ty Kadlec tallied three points on an accurate trey attempt. Evan Onken and Carter Geditz each scored two points.

The Battlers utilized five scorers that evening led by Cooper Logan's game-high 28 points. Grant Luikens added 17 points and Drake Bassett also achieved double-figure scoring status with 13 points.

The Battlers were a warm 27-44 from the floor including no fewer than nine treys. They were 6-12 in free throw attempts. Ipswich, meanwhile, responded with a 13-50 field goal evening that included those seven treys and went 2-2 in free throws.

The Battlers obtained 34 total rebounds, led by Luikens with eight. Ipswich collected 25 rebounds paced by Taylor Thorson with six. The Battlers only sustained 12 turnovers; Ipswich, 17. But the Tigers had six steals, led by Ian Beyers with two thefts.
