2022 Election candidates set

 


Edmunds County will elect several county and District 23 candidates in 2022.

The Primary election will be held on June 7. There are Republican candidates for District 23 State Senator and State Representative.

Bryan Breitling of Miller and Spencer Gosch of Glenham are candidates for State Senator. Breitling is the incumbent and Gosch has served as a State Representative.

Four Republicans are vying for two seats as State Representatives: Brandon Black of Aberdeen, Gregory Brooks of Aberdeen, James Wangsness of Miller and Scott Moore of Ipswich.

Edmunds County voters will also elect the County Sheriff at the Primary election in June. Republicans Bruce Sahli and Jonathan Waldner are both candidates.

County voters will also have candidates to elect at the General Election on November 8, 2022.

Incumbent Keith Schurr of Mina, a Democrat, will face Daniel “DJ” Hardison of Bowdle, a Republican, for the County Auditor position.


County Commission District 3 voters will decide between incumbent Jerome Schaffner, Independent candidate, and Republican Micheal Geditz.

Running unopposed are County Commission incumbent Dean Mehlhaff, District 1 and incumbent Timothy Thomas, District 5. Both are Republican candidates.

Also running unopposed is Register of Deeds, Gwen Geditz, a Republican.

The deadline to file nominating petitions for the June Primary Election was March 29. Independent candidates have until April 26, 2022 to submit nominating petitions.

After the 2020 Census changes were made to redistrict the state. District 23 now is made up of Campbell, McPherson, Walworth, Edmunds, Potter, Faulk and Hand counties. A narrow section along Highway 12 in Brown County was added.
