Tiger Track and Field competes at Roncalli Invite at Barnett Center

Ipswich had a busy day in an indoor track and field meet last Thursday in Aberdeen at the Barnett Center organized by Aberdeen Roncalli.

Though no team points were kept the IHS Tigers had a busy day.

Girls first! Marley Guthmiller won the pole vault at 2.74 meters where three more Tigers placed second, third and fourth. They were Quincy Olivier at 2.29 meters, Jalyssa Hutson at 2.29 meters and Kathryn Kilber at 2.13 meters. And Ashley Ptacek placed first in the 55-meter dash clocked at :07.96.

Ipswich had several more second-place girls. Josie Knutson accomplished that in the 200-meter dash in :30.86. Guthmiller was also second in the 400-meter dash at 1:09.59. So was Madisyn Gellhaus at 2:38.84 in the 800-meter run and also the 1600-meter run in 5:55.15. Guthmiller was second in the 55-meter hurdles at :10.03. Gracie Lange placed second in the high jump measured at 1.42 meters.


The Tigers combined for one girls' relay runners-up the 4x400 ran by Ptacek, Guthmiller, Gellhaus and Vanesa Diaz in 4:39.69.

Now for boys! Ty Kadlec was right in the thick of things, winning the 55-meter dash in :06.50 where Colby Sylte was second at :06.60. Kadlec also won the 200-meter dash in :23.90, followed closely by the runner-up Trevor Heinz in :24.99. Kadlec participated in a pair of winning relays, as well. He combined with Carson Gohl, Sylte and Heinz to win the 4x160 event in 1:15.90. (Ipswich B was second in that event clocked at 1:19.84.) Meanwhile, Kadlec, Gohl, Trevor Beyers and Turner Thorson were first in the 4x400 in 3:45.50.

Maxwell Kulesa got first in the 800-meter run at 2:17.59, as well as winning the 1600-meter run in 5:16.34.

Carter Geditz would win the 55-meter hurdles in :08.18. And Ipswich would also carve out a 13.13-meter shot put win by Zach Geditz, where teammate Lucas Roland was second at 12.57 meters.

Tyler Hettich got second in the high jump at 1.68 meters while Brody Davis was second in the pole vault outcome at 2.59 meters. Heinz added a second in the long jump measured at 5.85 meters.
