Ipswich did well at a recent track and field event in Redfield. "Lots of great performances today," said Coach Todd Thorson. "Our boys took the team title and we had several performances that will be ranked in top four in state."

The IHS Tiger boys indeed scored 117.5 points among 22 teams which topped the runners-up Clark/Willow Lake 117.5 to 75.

The Ipswich girls, meanwhile, scored 36 team points placing tenth as a team. (The Mobridge-Pollock girls won that event 99 to 67 over second-place Northwestern.)

Ty Kadlec again had a busy day for the IHS boys, edging his own teammate Colby Sylte :22.9 to :23.6 in the 200-meter dash finals. Carter Geditz also won the 110-meter hurdles in :16.0. And Zach Geditz topped the discus spinners with a 151'6.5 throw. The Tiger boys added some individual seconds, including Tyler Hettich who was second in the high jump outcome at a 5'8 height. Trevor Heinz was also second in the long jump, measuring 20'4.5.

Ipswich added both sprint relay wins - the 4x100 and the 4x200. Carson Gohl, Sylte, Heinz and Kadlec won the shorter event in :45.2 and the longer one in 1:34.9. Ipswich finished second in the 4x400, timed at 3:42.3 and that foursome was Kadlec, Turner Thorson, Trevor Beyers and Gohl. Trevor Beyers, Heinz, Turner Thorson and Maxwell Kulesa finished second in the medley, clocked in 3:57.8.

Meanwhile, the IHS girls' best effort that day would be their medley relay win, ran by Josie Knutson, Ashley Ptacek, Marley Guthmiller and Madyson Gellhaus in 4:44.0.

The IHS team was scheduled to compete in the Rob Luecke Invitational in Groton on April 26. Ipswich plans to host a small meet on Thursday. They will also compete in the Potter County Invite on Saturday, April 30 in Gettysburg and the Eureka Lions Invite is planned on May 3.
