Janice Glanzer

 

Janice Mae Petersen Glanzer will be laid to rest on Saturday, May 21st, 2022 with her son, Christopher Jay Glanzer at the Ipswich City Cemetery in Ipswich.

Janice was born in Leola on May 21, 1939 to Minehart and Edna (Longwell) Petersen. She and her brother, Donald Petersen grew up in Ipswich. During her youth Janice enjoyed school athletics, swimming, water skiing and band. She graduated from Ipswich High School then attended and graduated from Bennett Nursing School in Yankton. Janice worked as a head nurse in Lake Preston and St. Mary's Hospital in Pierre.

She was married on August 6, 1961 and had three sons, Mark, Barry and Chris Glanzer.

After raising her family in Idaho Falls, Idaho she studied and excelled in painting. She especially enjoyed watercolor painting. She leaves behind many beautiful paintings which show her skill and love of nature.


Janice is preceded in death by her parents Minehart Petersen and Edna (Longwell) Petersen Jenkins who are buried at the Ipswich City Cemetery. She was also predeceased by her son Christopher Jay Glanzer and grandson David Mark Glanzer.

She is survived by her sons Mark and wife Debbie Glanzer of Wilkesboro, North Carolina and Barry Glanzer of Idaho Falls, Idaho; brother, Donald and wife Donna Petersen of Great Falls, Mont .; six grandchildren, two great grandsons; and many nieces and nephews.

A burial service will be held for Janice and her son Christopher Glanzer on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at the Ipswich City Cemetery in Ipswich. A luncheon will be provided immediately following the graveside service at the Ipswich United Church of Christ (Congregational) on 203 4th Avenue, Ipswich.
