Ipswich golfers play in Faulkton and Eureka

 


Ipswich did really well in the boys 'varsity division at a recent LRC high school golf meet in Aberdeen on May 5.

The Tiger boys indeed shaded rival Faulkton in the boys' team standings with a 246. That's because Faulkton would fire a 246 as well. It was that close! But Faulkton would gain a little revenge with an individual titlist in the person of Bennett Cassens with his 75, edging runner-up Luke Peterson from Ipswich with a 76.

Next for Ipswich was Chet Peterson in third at 82, followed by Tucker Kadlec in fifth at 88. Matthew Jaenisch placed eighth at 95.

Meanwhile, the Tiger girls only had one entrant in the varsity division and that would be Rylee Kleffman with her sixth-place 122.

Faullkton's Gabby Kast was first with an 97, shading her teammate Trisha Cramer with a 98. Their team totaled 305 strokes and were the only girls' team with the minimum number of entrants to be eligible for the team standings.

Looking at the girls' JV outcome, the youthful Tiger girls ended up with Hope Wagner in fifth at 77.

The JV boys were led by Ipswich's Jace Konsor in first at 46 while Faulkton's Charlie Deiter finished second at 48.

Ipswich also utilized Hayden Schlosser's fourth-place 48, Trevor Larson's fifth-place 50, Gabe Simon's sixth-place 53, Sam Bass's seventh-place 53, Evan Onken's tenth-place 58, Jacob Bakken's 11th-place 59, Nick Fuhrmann's 13th-place 64, Brooks Osborne's 14th place 69 and Jace Styles with a 15th-place 69.

eureka meet

The Ipswich boys captured an individual win as well as the team championship at a recent high school golf tourney in Eureka.

Luke Peterson was indeed the medalist with his 73, leading Ipswich to a 241 to 258 team title over Faulkton. But Faulkton's Bennett Cassens was second individually with a 76. Ipswich's second scorer would become Jace Konsor in fifth at 83 and their third placer was Tucker Kadlec in seventh at 85. Matthew Jaenisch was eighth at 86, while Chet Peterson ended up in 14th with a 93.

Ipswich had two girls there and Rylee Kleffman was seventh at 102 and Molly Simon 12th in 114. It was won by Olivia Mikkelsen of Potter County at 89 over Erica Ingerson of Eureka with her 95. Potter County also won the girls' team title over Eureka 285 to 305.

The Tiger golfers will play in the pre-region meet on May 16 in Hillsview Golf Course in Pierre. They will play on May 17 in a meet hosted by James Valley Christian on Broadland Creek Golf Course in Huron.
