Alton Jung

 

Funeral services for Alton Jung, 94, of Aberdeen, was at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Hosmer, with Pastor David Peterson officiating. Burial at Bethany Cemetery, Hosmer.

Alton died Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at Primrose Cottages in Aberdeen.

Alton Jung was born on July 5, 1927 to Emil and Emma (Gramm) Jung on the family farm near Hosmer. This is the area where he grew up and attended school. On March 13, 1949 he married Ramona Gutjahr at Hosmer. They made their home on a farm near his parent's homestead. Farming was Alton's occupation and hobby. Alton had an intense work ethic. He enjoyed caring for his livestock and Sunday afternoon he loved to take a drive to check the cattle and the fields. He also enjoyed playing cards and hunting.

Alton was a life-long member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hosmer, where he was a past deacon and council member. He also served as township treasurer.


Grateful for having shared Alton's life are his wife, Ramona Jung of Aberdeen; children, Doris (Dwight) Jenkins of Boise, Id., Jean Volk of Hutchinson, Kan. and Dale (Sherry) Jung of Roscoe; grandchildren, Lori (Brandon) Parks, Julie (Chad) Archer, Lisa (Peter) Miller, Shane (Brittney) Jung and Carly (Kevin) Handt; great-grandchildren, Darby, William, Brittany, Olivia, Ava, Emma, David, Owen, Valerie and Hayden; brothers, Leo (Lorraine) Jung, LeRoy (Peggy) Jung and Ben (Betty) Jung; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Alton in death are his parents, Emil and Emma Jung; brother, Melvin and two infant brothers.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to St. John's Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
