Eileen Likness

 

Eileen M. Likness, 96, New Effington, passed away Friday, July 22, 2022, at St. Gerard's Community of Care in Hankinson, N.D.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in New Effington with Rev. Pat Schubert officiating.

Burial will be in the Palestine Cemetery, rural Veblen. Visitation will be Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Eileen Marie Kraft was born on March 12, 1926 to Roy and Mary Ann (Kirchgafler) Kraft on a farm near Ipswich where she was raised and attended school.

On September 1, 1943, Eileen married Robert Markuson. They settled in Ipswich and were blessed with five children: Donna, Dianne, Gerald, Donald, and Duane. Eileen worked as a secretary for the Montana Dakota Utilities office. On May 3, 1988, Eileen and her sister, Josephine Judiesch traveled to New Zealand.

On May 27, 1989, Eileen married Leroy Likness. They enjoyed traveling and wintering in Texas and Kansas for over 20 years.


Eileen enjoyed reading books, playing cards with friends, and helping out at the grocery store where she enjoyed visiting with the customers.

Eileen leaves behind her husband Leroy Likness; daughters, Donna (Mario) Marquez, and Brenda (Mikey) Ceroll; sons, Gerald (Judy) Markuson, and Duane (Marcie) Markuson; grandchildren, Dale (Donva) Scott, Corina ( Frank) Scott, Troy (Angie) Eisenbeisz, Dianna (Chris) Bunch, Tara (Tony) Casey, Alisha Markuson, Tamra (Brad) Lang, Codi Whittern, Jenela (Joe) Holt, Amber (Brent) Fortin, Sam (Spencer) Hanson, and Dirk (Jenna) Waite; 23 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Roger Kraft; and daughter Nadine's longtime friend Tom Mitchell.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Mary Ann Kraft; husband, Robert Markuson; daughters, Diane Eisenbeisz and Nadine Waite; son, Donald Markuson; brothers, Andy, Frank, and Johnnie Kraft; and sisters, Annie Jeske and Josephine Judiesch.

Music will be provided by organist Deb Bredvik and vocalists Melanie Yost, Janeen Kohl, and Linda Loberg.

The Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt is in charge of the arrangements.
