Tiger Trevor Heinz (4) heads up the field with the ball early in the Ipswich vs. Faulkton Area game on Friday in Ipswich.

Ipswich earned a huge 50-20 Lake Region football conference win over Faulkton Area last Friday at the IHS sports complex.

The Tigers slowly established control of the scrimmage line after an early stand-off on the scoreboard. The first quarter was an especially busy one. Ipswich marched towards TD territory and capped its initial drive with a 52-yard pass from Ian Beyers to Tyler Hettich. But Faulkon immediately answered with a 76-yard scoring run by Roman DiMaria. (Neither conversion play would succeed.) The visitors then stunned Ipswich with a 36-yard jaunt by Garrett Cramer into paydirt and the Trojans also scored the PAT play for a brief 14-6 lead.

But Ipswich would regroup quickly with a one-yard TD plunge by Beyers, who then scored the PAT carry as well and the Tigers then electrified their fans with a Tyler Hettich 70-yard scoring burst. And Beyers would pass to Carter Geditz for the conversion play and a 22-14 IHS lead after a quarter.

Ipswich added a 25-yard TD carry by Tyler Hettich, but their PAT attempt would fail. Ipswich would then utilize a scoring strike from Beyers to Trevor Heinz that covered eight yards and the Tigers added a PAT pass from Beyers to Carter Geditz. That put Ipswich ahead 36-14 at intermission.

Faulkton would fight back with a scoring drive capped by a Layne Cotton pass to Roman DiMaria. But Ipswich answered with a four-yard keeper by Beyers. And the Tigers would add an insurance TD pass of 25 yards to Carter Geditz from Beyers who also found Heinz for the conversion. This would complete the evening's scoring.

Ipswich amassed 182 rushing yards led by Beyers with 88 and Tyler Hettich with 87. Faulkton responded with 82 yards from Cramer and 79 by Roman DiMaria. They totaled 183 yards on the ground.

Beyers was 13-19 through the air for 212 yards with no interceptions. Tyler Hettich had three catches for 65 yards, Carter Geditz two for 37 and Heinz three for 38. Cotton was 16-27 through the air for 133 yards and two interceptions for Faulkton and Roman DiMaria was his favorite receiver with a dozen catches.

Ipswich gained nine first downs; Faulkton five.

Defensively Ipswich was very busy, featuring at least one goal-line stand and was led in tackles by Carter Geditz with 17 tackles, Heinz with 12 tackles and Tyler Hettich with nine.

Ipswich will travel to Langford on Friday for another LRC showdown.
