Average for 47 months of September is currently at 2.04. I have never recorded any measurable snowfall for September.

Precip. for September, 2022 seems very low at .11 and it sounds like that there won’t be any more added this week to complete the month. But .11 isn’t the lowest. In fact there are three other months of September that are lower. They are .10 in 1998, .06 in 1979 and the lowest during 2012 at .03.

Some extreme amounts of precip. from 47 months of September are as follows:

1996: Heavy moisture at 6.43 which really gave the average for Sept. a boast. Eight days of recorded precip. – Rain on the 19th & 20th totaled 4.20 – Another good rain on the 6th of 1.12 which included thunder.

1999: Abundant moisture at 5.40 which gave the average another boast – Most came during the first four days of the month that totaled 3.70 – Another good rain on the 11th at 1.20 – Seven rain events and most involved thunder.


2010: Precip. high at 4.65 with the best single day rain of 1.29 on the 15th – Eight rain events during the month with thunder involved in all of them.

2009: Precip. high at 3.86 with a good day rain of 2.23 on the 8th – Six rain events for the month with thunder involved with four.

2004: High moisture amount for the month at 3.82 with half coming on the 22nd & 23rd that totaled 1.83 – Five rain event during the month with thunder only once.
