Potter County remained undefeated at this juncture of the girls high school basketball season with a non-conference 61-43 non-confer- ence win over Ipswich in the Sacred Hoops Classic last Friday at the Strode Center in Aberdeen.

But Gabby Wald topped Ipswich with 11 points, featuring one trey and four steals. Next would be a trio of players with five points apiece — Ashlyn Weig, Karlie Gohl and Quincy Olivier. (Gohl included a trey.) Brianna Geditz included a trey in her four points. Anna Nierman and Rylee Kleffman each had a trey for their three points and Baylee Kulesa also scored three points. Kaylin Onken and Marley Guthmiller each contributed a two-point basket.

The Battlers lived up to their nickname with a balanced scoring attack that would include nine different players led by Tyler Simon with 19 points. (She included 10 of her points in the first four minutes of the second stanza to help her team take charge that afternoon.) Kayden Cronin was next with 16 counters and Ashlee Kaup nearly reached double-figures with her nine points.

The Battlers netted 22 total field goals with two of them being treys and made 15 huge free throws in 25 tries. Ipswich countered with 15 floor shots including those five treys and added eight free throws in 13 trips to the charity stripe.

The Battlers would only lead 11-9 after a quarter, but stretched that to 30-20 at intermission. They would then go ahead 50-32 with a quarter to play.

Ipswich had 21 rebounds in a balanced effort, PC: 32. The Battlers had 11 turnovers, IHS 16.

The girls and boys will host Warner on Thursday, Jan. 5.
