Highmore-Harrold stops Tiger boys on the road

Ipswich dropped a 52-38 boys' non-conference varsity basket decision at Highmore-Harrold last Saturday, Jan. 28. The Tigers managed to stay within striking distance for much of the game, but were outscored 16-5 in the final quarter.

The hosts had led 14-8 after a quarter and 22-19 at halftime. They then led 36-33 with that decisive quarter left to play.

Ipswich was led by Trevor Heinz with 11 points followed by Ian Beyers and Chet Peterson with seven points apiece. (And they both included a trey.) Next would be Tyler Hettich with five points also featuring a trey and Blake Rich also contributed five points. Carter Geditz completed their effort with three points. They were 14-31 from the field with that trio of treys and finished 7-10 free throw tries.

Highmore-Harrold obtained three double-figure scorers led by Carson Stephenson with 12 points that included two treys. Trey Knox added 11 points and Trake Cowen, 10 points. They had three additional scorers and were 17-36 from the floor and 16-21 in their free throw attempts.


But Ipswich grabbed 21 rebounds led by Peterson with seven. Turnovers were fairly equal with Ipswich committing 19 of them and the hosts, 17. But Ipswich had 13 steals, led by Heinz with four. The Tigers also utilized four assists with Heinz and Peterson dishing out two apiece.

The Tiger fell to 8-3 at that juncture of their season and the Rustlers would improve to 10-3.
