Ipswich boys basketball fans were cheering for the Tigers on Friday when they played the Herreid/Selby Area Wolverines. Tiger Trevor Heinz looks to get to the basket, while a Wolverine defender hopes to stop him.
Ipswich hosted Herreid/ Selby Area in a girls-boys non-conference varsity basketball twinbill with mixed results on Friday, Jan 27.
The Ipswich girls indeed were defeated 56-27 and the boys won their confrontation 47-36.
Defensive efforts played a role in both outcomes.
The HSA girls would get their initial double-figure lead at 18-8 to end the first quarter. They would then lead 32-13 at intermission and go ahead 44-18 with a quarter to play. A Rylee Kleffman basket inside the trey arc would provide the Tigers' final scoring.
