Edmunds Central students and North Central fan Chase Bukaske was one of the many wearing a "Jaxon's Journey" t-shirt at the basketball game on Feb. 3.

Edmunds Central School had Jaxon & Jhett Hartung Fan Support Night on Friday, Feb. 3 at the North Central vs. Ipswich basketball games.

NC fans and IHS fans helped support the fundraiser. The event sponsored by the EC P.A.C. and EC Student Council featured a pie auction and split pot raffle.

Many NC fans wore t-shirts with "Jaxon's Journey #ONETEAM" on the front and Hartung 30 on the back.

Jaxon Hartung, a 13-year-old Hoven middle school student, has two cancerous brain tumors. He is the son of Jesse and Kindra Hartung of Hoven. He plays basketball for the Potter County Battler middle school team. The EC poster invited people to show their support by wearing Golden State Warriors, TB Buccaneers or New England Patriots team shirts in honor of Jaxon's favorite teams.

The Hartungs were told there is a 86% chance for a cure, but Jaxon has a long road to that point. There will be intense 18 weeks of chemotherapy done inpatient in Rochester, Minn., followed by specialized proton radiation therapy at the Mayo Clinic. He also meets with medical staff in Bowdle and Aberdeen when possible.

The Hartungs also found out their youngest, Jhett, was diagnosed with Dravet syndrome in January 2022. Dravet Syndome is a severe form of genetic myoclonic epilepsy, which is resistant to medication. Jhett is 18 months old and has suffered with seizures since he was two months old.

Jesse Hartung, Jhett and Jaxon's dad, is recovering from the inpact of West Nile virus. The virus caused encephalitis of the brain and other issues including paralysis.

Jaxon and Jhett have a sister, Ava, and two brothers, Jacob and Jamen.
