Erma was born on October 26, 1931, to Jacob and Martha (Guthmiller) Weishaar in Bowdle. She was the oldest of four children: Lyle (Margie) Weishaar of Carbondale, Colo., Rosella Reimer of Mankato, Minn., and Lynn (Bob) Sanford of Scottsdale, Ariz.

Her early years were spent on different farms around the Hillsview and Hosmer areas. Erma graduated from Hosmer High School in 1949 and then continued her education by attending a 10-week teacher's course. She taught one year in the very school that she herself attended as a young girl and another year in Glover Township. Both schools were country schools.

She married Roy Meier on May 23, 1950, in St Thomas Catholic Church. They lived on a farm four miles west and two south of Roscoe. In 1982, they moved into Roscoe and built Meier's Clock Shop. Erma remained there until 2022 when she moved to Nano Nagel in Aberdeen.

Erma very much enjoyed time with her family and coffee time at Ricky's. She would never turn down a card game.

Grateful for sharing her life are her children, Annette (Dave) DeRouchey of Newton, Ia., Sonia Meier of Aberdeen, Mark (Zady) Meier of Roscoe, and Jennifer (Jerad) Simon of Tolstoy; her grandchildren, Blake (Katie) DeRouchey, Cody (Jessica Usselman) Leisen, Nicholas (Amy Weiszhaar) Meier, Sabrina (Erik) Peterson, Alisha (Aaron) Eveland, Elliot (Emily) Meier; and 15 great-grandchildren, Tate, Quinn, Hayden, Parker, Jacob, Vivienna, Stella, Lydia, Deklan, Henrik, Nora, Wyatt, Jack, Milo, and Maggie along with many nieces and nephews.

Erma was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, in 2011 and her son, Jeffrey, in 1977.

Schriver Funeral Home of Ipswich is entrusted with the arrangements.
