Alice Dosch passed away on December 18, 2024 at Spearfish Canyon Health Care in Spearfish.
Alice was born April 18, 1930 to Alonzo C. Davis and Mary E. (Adams) Davis in Santa Anna, California.
Alice moved to South Dakota with her family in 1962 and raised her six children here. She lived in Bridgewater, Salem, Ipswich and Aberdeen before moving to Spearfish after the death of her husband, Pat Dosch, in 2014.
She is remembered for her love of music, her stereo on full volume blaring a favorite aria, the philharmonic or maybe a Roger Miller tune. She had a beautiful singing voice and sang in many cantatas, weddings, and funerals. In recent years she came to favor her "Latin Boys". She was a talented seamstress making clothes and many gifts for family. Favorite memories include baking, her whistling almost any tune, being urgently sent to the grocery store to get her cigarettes, the sarcasm that flowed so easily, her graciousness and sense of humor which she maintained to her last day.
Alice is survived by her children Ken (Kay) Schallenkamp, Carolyn Blas, Janet (Alan) Karel, David (Veronica) Schallenkamp, Linda Gross, and Keith Schallenkamp; nine grandchildren, Beth Stoebner, Melissa Murray, Heather Newbury, Jenni Simon, Kirk Pauley, Christian Gross, Lindie Schallenkamp, Stephanie Schallenkamp and Christina Sweet; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren.
She is also survived by her stepchildren Terry (Kay) Dosch, Greg (Patty) Dosch, David (Deb) Dosch, Lisa (Tommy) Cooper and Todd Dosch.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Matthew (Pat) Dosch and an infant daughter Michaela J. Harkins, as well as her two sons-in-law Tim Gross and Gregg Blas and her siblings Harry Davis, Henry Davis, Harriet Davis and Virginia Anderson.
Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel & Crematory in Spearfish are in charge of arrangements. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
