4-H Royalty

The 2018 Edmunds County Achievement Days were held August 1-3 in Ipswich.

The event started on Wednesday morning with the Dog Show with 19 participants. They were judged on obedience, agility, rally, and showmanship. Top showman awards will be presented at Recognition Night. The day ended with the Horse Show and Fun Day at the Trail Days Complex. There were six members participating in a variety of events. The evening was enjoyed by all in attendance.

Thursday morning began with the poultry show at 8:30 a.m. followed by the judging of over 300 static exhibits. This included the exhibits by 4-H members, open class, and Cloverbuds. Rabbits and cats were judged in the afternoon. Other afternoon events included a Parade of Animals to the nursing home and the Heifer Futurity Contest.

4-H Projects earn ribbons

The evening program started with the Pre 4-H Pet Show and the crowning of the 2018 Achievement Day Royalty. The lucky winners were Queen Josie Sylte, Cloverbud Prince Grayson Beyers and Princess Ava Bauer.

Friday morning started off in the livestock barn with members getting their animals for the livestock judging. There were over 150 livestock entered. The livestock show began at 8:30 a.m. with entries in swine, sheep, goat, dairy, and beef. Members enjoyed games in the afternoon sponsored by the Junior Leaders.

The evening progressed with the annual 4-H Barbeque which had over 400 people enjoying the BBQ Chicken. The BBQ was followed by the pre-4-H Livestock Show. The Secret Alumni was revealed as Deanne Hoyle. Her grandson William Hoyle correctly guessed. The Family Herdmanship Award went to the Billy and Holly Johnson family. This was followed by the Premium Sale which had 41 entries.
