Legislative session underway, new District 23 representative

New District 23 representative James Wangsness

The 2020 South Dakota Legislative session began Tuesday, Jan. 14.

John Lake of Gettysburg was appointed to serve as District 23 Senator, replacing Justin Cronin who resigned. He was a District 23 representative.

Lake was replaced by James Wangsness of Miller, who was appointed by Gov. Kristie Noem.

Spencer Gosch of Glenham is District 23's second representative. Rep. Gosch was elected as Speaker Pro Tempore for the House.

The legislative session runs through March 12, 2020. March 30 is the last day of the regular session, reserved for consideration of gubernatorial vetoes or other issues as necessary.
