Even though ownership of HealthFirst Chiropractic in Milbank has transferred from Dr. Aaron Micko to Dr. Terry Seyer, the firm's patients can expect to see a smooth transition and a continuation of the service they've grown to expect, according to Seyer. He purchased the chiropractic office effective February 1.

"We really want to focus on the patient care continuity," Seyer commented. "Nothing will change for our patients."

Seyer, who began working at HealthFirst in Milbank in May of 2018, said that ownership was a goal he had in mind for some time. "I just didn't expect it to be this soon," Seyer said. "I'm appreciative to Dr. Aaron for serving the community for 12 years, and then helping me reach my goal of owning the office."

Micko and his family had moved to Britton three years ago, and for the past year, he had been seeing patients in Milbank only one day a week. "Dr. Terry has taken on the lion's share of the work. He's been managing the office for the past year, so it won't be much of a change for the patients," Micko said.

Micko has retained ownership of the HealthFirst Chiropractic office in Britton, where his wife, Sandi, is the office manager. "It was tough to leave Milbank," Micko said. "It's a great community, and we have a lot of strong relationships there. But it's good to have someone like Terry to take over." The move to Britton allowed the Mickos to be near the grandparents of their three children.

Seyer, originally from Ipswich, graduated from South Dakota State University in 1997 with a major in exercise science. He lived in Rapid City and worked in the private sector in the wellness industry as well as in hospital-based settings for 13 years.

During that time, he was an exercise specialist, a physical therapist working with cardiac rehabilitation and a personal trainer. Seyer returned to school and graduated with his chiropractic certification from Northwestern Health Science University in Bloomington, Minn., in 2018.

Seyer provides all chiropractic services and plans to put a greater emphasis on rehabilitation exercises to meet the needs of his patients.

The office is staffed by Seyer, Kirsten Roggenbuck, a full-time chiropractic assistant, and Julie Schneider, a part-time chiropractic assistant. Seyer and his wife, Tasha, have six children. Tasha also helps out in the office as needed.

HealthFirst Chiropractic is located at 1203 East 4th Avenue, Suite 101, in Milbank.
