IHS student Sam Grabowska will be part of the 21st Annual South Dakota Music Educators Association (SDMEA) Middle School All-State Band March 6 and 7 in Mitchell.

Grabowska will play baritone in the Honor Band. There is also a Festival Band.

The Honor Band will be directed by Dr. Haley Armstrong and Dr. Cassandra Bechard will direct the Festival Band.

The bands will rehearse beginning Friday afternoon, March 6 in the Mitchell High School Performing Arts Center. They will work together throughout Friday and Saturday.

The bands will perform in concert at 3 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center.

Grabowska has been a member of the Middle School All-State Band for three years. IHS band director Becky Nierman said he will receive an award during Saturday's concert.

Students in grades 6-8 who are currently enrolled in a S.D. public or private school band program are eligible to audition. All auditions were submitted online.
